Meet our creator, Donna...
...in some of her many disguises!
it all began in prison!
In 2024 Donna went to gaol... as a tour guide at Shrewsbury Prison.
Sitting just above the beautiful and historic town of Shrewsbury, the prison was decommissioned in 2013 and attracts large numbers of visitors through its imposing gates each year. However, its long and dark history began centuries before, in 1793.
As a tour guide, Donna enjoyed taking private and public tours, schools and educational tours and late night ghost tours (often in costume) and retelling the tales of the unfortunates incarcerated there through Georgian, Victorian and modern times.
When a colleague gave Donna the gift of a set of prison themed earrings they drew so much attention from guests on the tours that she decided to make herself a few more pairs in slightly different styles. These quirky earrings were soon spotted by the retail manager who suggested she might like to sell them in the gift shop - Pretty Peculiar was born.
